FoodShare South Carolina is Seeking Applicants for Director of Programs & Evaluation

FoodShare South Carolina’s mission is to improve the well-being of South Carolinians by partnering with communities as they work to create opportunities that strengthen access to healthy, fresh produce. 

The Director of Programs and Evaluation will lead FoodShare SC’s various Fresh Food Box (FFB) related programs: Richland County Hub and the Statewide Hub Expansion/Technical Assistance. The Director will lead the development of the FFB program infrastructure, expand into rural areas, execute the strategic plan, provide supervision and direction to program staff, manage business administration duties, and coordinate evaluation partners. The FoodShare program is a division of USC School of Medicine. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree, with 5 years of experience in nonprofit management, public health management, or equivalent management experience. Master’s in Public Health or related fields preferred. 
  • Experience with food security, anti-poverty, nutrition assistance programs is an asset, especially in rural settings.
  • Strong community relations/outreach skills with the ability to form effective working partnerships. Established relationships with South Carolina rural coalitions, health systems is an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as a leader/supervisor and a member of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience with program management. 
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and own transportation for travel, mileage reimbursement provided 

Job Duties

  1. Strategy & Vision:
    1. Grows and maintains the FoodShare Hub network, moving towards strong institutional partnerships and regionality. 
    2. Provides leadership to Hub network partners, focusing on organizational capacity, regional cooperation and technical assistance. 
    3. Develops strong relationships with partners, collaborating organizations, government agencies, funders and other stakeholders using a community development approach. 
    4. Contributes to grant applications, advocacy and leadership committee. 
    5. Executes strategic plan, including creation of new programs, if needed
  2. Program Implementation:
    1. Provides leadership for hub expansion, Richland County Hub, and NeighborShare programs. 
    2. Manages and supervises hub expansion and Richland County staff. 
    3. Creates, implements and monitors program policies and procedures.
    4. Initiates and evaluates program goals and strategic objectives. 
    5. Assists with the development and monitoring of program budgets.
  3. Evaluation: 
    1. Works closely with evaluation partners to develop and implement program evaluations for all FoodShare programs. 
    2. Manages and maintains evaluation records. 
    3. Mobilizes evaluation outcomes for use in grants, presentations, reports, etc.

FoodShare SC is a program of the University of South Carolina’s School of Medicine, though we are not on campus, and are community facing and self-funded via grants. All staff work at the FoodShare SC office at 201 Columbia Mall Blvd, suite 109, in the Dentsville Community. FoodShare SC complies with USC’s HR policies, which includes generous annual leave, sick leave and health benefits.

Pay range: $59,581 – $89,371, with an anticipated starting salary around $70,000
