Food insecurity and access in rural communities is real for many families living in food deserts.

At the SC Rural Resource Coalition Annual Meeting on Dec. 7, 2022, Giany Didier Guedjo from Carolina Human Reinvestment – CHRSC, Courtney Watson from FoodShare South Carolina, and Stephanie Jones & Albert Rice from  Saltcatcher Farms will discuss the region food challenges exacerbated by COVID-19 and its impact. With moderator Nikki Seibert of Growing Local SC, the session will share emerging models and strategies communities in South Carolina are using to fight hunger . Attendees will also learn about different grant opportunities available to help families, socially disadvantaged farmers, churches, and community based nonprofit organizations.
