The USDA will stop its annual Food Security reports, citing costs and politicism.
“Data is important, writ large, right? This is how we know that there is an issue. This is how we know that food insecurity is increasing in our communities,” said Omme-Salma Rahemtullah, director of FoodShare South Carolina, a nonprofit that helps expand access to fresh food.
Rahemtullah said the move could allow policymakers to downplay the effects of SNAP reductions.
