“Food insecurity is getting worse in South Carolina,” said Omme-Salma Rahemtullah, FoodShare SC Executive Director.
“Not only are more people food insecure, but the type of food insecurity they’re suffering is worse than it was before,” she said.“So, that’s the kind of data that this report is able to demonstrate to us. States can’t go out and do that research on their own. Nonprofits certainly don’t have the resources to do that on their own, so we really do rely on this federal data that’s very accurate.
