FoodShare South Carolina’s Culinary Medicine department is hiring a Community Programs Manager!
The Community Program Manager will implement community-based nutrition education programming at FoodShare SC’s teaching kitchen, and via our mobile kitchen across the Midlands region. The manager will also strengthen FoodShare’s outreach to local communities and other teaching kitchens across South Carolina.
Qualifications:
- Preference will be given to registered dietitians / nutritionists
- Requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field and one or more years of job related experience
- Program management experience in community based, educational, and/or population health setting
- Food service experience in a commercial, institutional or other setting requiring SCDA regulations for retail food establishments
Job Duties
- Implement community-based nutrition educational programming (40%):
- Develop community based nutrition programming using evidence-based curricula
- Engage with community partners to promote and recruit participants
- Lead cooking demonstrations at FoodShare hub and partner sites
- Leads nutrition education components of the Nutrition Access program
- Coordinate facilitator trainings
- Food and supply procurement
- Implement nutrition education supports for the Richland County Hub Fresh Food Box program (15%)
- Source recipes for FFB recipe cards
- Lead recipe sampling program
- Monitors and enforces safe food handling practices for Richland hub staff
- Administers ServSafe Food Handler training and certification for Richland hub staff
- Overseas teaching kitchen operations and maintenance (15%)
- Recruits and manages volunteers for kitchen activities
- Daily cleaning and maintenance, including inventory, documentation and policy enforcement
- Builds and maintains relationships with vendors
- Guides kitchen assistant with cleaning duties
- Supports the statewide FoodShare hub network in nutrition education training and best practices (10%)
- Creates and manages recipe database
- Trains hubs in recipe sourcing, ServSafe and cooking demos as needed
- Provides additional support to the Culinary Medicine department (20%)
- Engages with nutrition related coalition and advisory committees
- Participates in state and national conferences
- Contributes to research and funding opportunities
- Support department interns
- Support student led community initiatives and promotes FoodShare activities at the USC Floyd School of Medicine

FoodShare SC is located at 201 Columbia Mall Blvd, suite 109 in the northeast area of Columbia. This job is on-site, in person 37.5 hours a week, with a paid half an hour lunch. This position will primarily work in FoodShare’s 3,000 square foot, state of the art teaching kitchen, fully equipped for all teaching needs, featuring 18 teaching stations. The teaching kitchen operates in compliance with the South Carolina Department of Agriculture Regulation 61-25 for Retail Food Establishments.
