Ain’t no thing but a cauliflower wing
Ain’t no thing but a cauliflower wing
I have to admit, cauliflower scared me a bit. I thought “no way this will work” as I battered the florets and stuck them in the oven. But man oh man have I even impressed myself. Next sporting event or family gathering where you need some good finger foods, give these babies a try. They’re way healthier and cheaper than your traditional chicken wings, and for someone who doesn’t exactly trust myself to cook meat all the time, there is no risk of pink interior/ food poisoning with these! What’s not to love?!
Ingredients:
- 1/2 head of cauliflower, separated into florets
- 1/3 cup of water
- 2/3 cup of flour (gluten free if necessary)
- 1 tsp pepper
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- sauce of choice: hot sauce, bbq…
Directions:
- preheat oven to 450 and spray a baking sheet with cooking spray
- Combine water, flour and seasonings to form a pancake like batter
- Coat cauliflower florets with the batter, removing excess with fingers so florets are covered but not dripping
- Place in single layer on baking sheet and stick in the oven
- Bake for 25 minutes, take out and flip over to make sure all sides get crispy
- Take out after 30 mins and brush with sauce of choice then pop back in for 2-3 mins to get the sauce to harden and BOOM you’re done! Go grab your blue cheese, ranch, and carrot sticks and enjoy
- I made bbq, hot sauce, and plain ones and dunked them all! You really can’t go wrong
