Yes, yes, I know it is still cold out, but spring is just around the corner and there are so many great smoothie ingredients in this food box that I couldn’t wait. If you find your box ingredients getting a little too ripe I always recommend freezing them. Practically everything can be blended up into a delicious smoothie. I’ll let you get creative with your combos, but I really want to post this to tell you about the ingredient that changed my smoothie life- ginger root. Your smoothies will never be the same. It adds a sweet yet spicy kick to a smoothie that I cannot believe I have lived 23 years without. And even better- since you’re blending everything you don’t even have to chop it up. Just goes to show you should never underestimate the power of your food box ingredients!
Ingredients:
- thumb-sized piece of ginger, peeled
- half banana, frozen
- 1/2 cup frozen berries or other fruit of choice
- 1/2-1 cup frozen kale
- protein powder- optional, but I added it for the flavoring (vanilla) and to bulk up my smoothie
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2-2/3 cup milk of choice (almond milk for me)
- 1/4 cup yogurt
Directions:
- Add everything into your magic bullet/ blender and blend the heck outta the thing- you don’t want any leaves unblended and floating around
